Quantum Tonkatsu Panko Pork Chops Japanese Style とんかつ .. oh and Thor TOO!

Quantum Tonkatsu Panko Pork Chops
Japanese Style
とんかつ
...oh, and Thor too
......& Mjolnir as well!

WHAT A COOL MEAL!

So easy to make and so much fun too! Not Rocket Science....CHEMISTRY!

So ingredients you need:

The Meal Itself
3 Pork Chops ... or 2 .... or 4 ... 1..... it IS your dinner, and maybe leftovers!
Olive Oil
Panko Crumbs (never knew they existed until recently!)
Couple of eggs
Bit of Flour
Flavoured Salt of your choice (Orange and Lime Sea Salt for me)
Pepper
Wine (White, but .... wine!)
Mashed potatoes
Mushroom Gravy Sauce
Monterey Jack Cheese
Couple of plastic bags ... to help coat the pork chops!
Hammer - preferably Mjolnir, on loan from Thor.....and look closely....closely...closer.....

Mjolnir!!!
Tonkatsu Sauce Ingredients
1/3 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon Mirin
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

In a small bowl, stir together ketchup, Worcestershire, soy sauce, mirin, sugar, mustard, and garlic powder. Use immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a month. You can put this aside. In fact, made this for my LEFTOVERS the next night, as I had trouble finding the Mirin...but DID based on a mythical, legendary, Tolkein-esque Super Secret T-Kat Map !!!

And the proper pronunciation of Worcestershire sauce is .....
Whir-shush-shush-shush-shush Sauce!
Seriously!!!

Okay, now comes the prep work. I cannot stress how important this next step is.....the most important part of the entire meal and chemistry experiment. You must .... pound the pork chops into submission! Pound, I say...POUND! Show no mercy, expect no dessert. Well...maybe!!! If Mjolnir not exactly handy, and a bit difficult to lift (I had no problem at all!), then..... just use a regular hammer.

Next, I also made some shallow slices on both sides of each pork chop. I rubbed in the sea salt and pepper as well. I might rub in garlic next time! WOOT!

Next, put what you think is enough Panko crumbs to coat your pork chops in a plastic bag. Also, enough flour in another. And, crack those bad boy eggs, stir them up a bit, and put them in a shallow soup bowl, wide enough to place the pork chops in. Okay, so any kind of sequence you want will work, but generally start with flour, then eggs, then panko. Then you can repeat if you want. I started with flour, egg, panko. But I also tried egg, flour, panko. And you can layer too! You probably need less Panko and flour than you think, in each bag. Experiment!

When you are done, you are DONE! Nicely coated, might be thicker in some spots, and you can always press more crumbs in! DONE!

Now...... THE SIZZLE AWAITS!

I flip the pork chops, to get an even browning. Shouldn't take more than about 6 minutes, to be sure. Slice one open to make sure it is done! And ... I also made mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy sauce! on the side! I also EXCELLENTED (never 'grated'! LOL!) some Monterey Jack cheese on top and it melted beautifully into a nice pattern too! And look who came over for dinner.....THOR!!!!!!

And then leftovers too!
Fingers crossed that Loki doesn't come!
Maybe Rocket will though!

And then the next night, I made the Tonkatsu Sauce and it made the meal THAT MUCH BETTER! I even added some sliced tomatoes, drizzled lightly in some Blackberry Ginger Dark Balsamic Vinegar. Holy Fab Meal Batman!!!! Top meal and very easy to make!

AND SUITS STARTS ..... TOMORROW!
Which means only one thing .....
THE DONNA!
